Karen Ota-O’Brien is the FWHL President and Co-Founder of FWHL. Karen currently plays on the Lucky Pucks C team.Karen originally hails from 100 Mile House, B.C. Canada but currently calls Fort Lauderdale, FL home. Karen is a Designer & Space planner for commercial offices.Karen is married with 2 stepsons. Karen was the 2023 USA Hockey Adult Player & NHL Willie O’Ree Community Service Award Finalist.Karen is also a member of NHL & NHL PA Female Hockey Advisory Committee.
Tonya is currently a member of the Lucky Pucks B Division team. A member of the FWHL since its inception, having previously served as a Member at Large and currently as Vice President and league USA Hockey Registrar. Tonya previously played Div. I college hockey at the University of Findlay. Tonya has proudly served as a law enforcement officer for more than 17 years. In her free time Tonya also enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with her husband, Clint, daughter, Abigail and dog, Cooper.
Kayla currently plays for the Lucky Pucks C team. She has been serving in law enforcement for going on 17 years in the City of Fort Lauderdale. Kayla was raised in South Florida and grew up playing hockey in the Sunshine State. Kayla graduated culinary school before attending the University of Florida. In her free time Kayla enjoys cooking, working out, and spending time with her husband and their two kids, Connor and Hazel.
Laura Tennant currently plays for the Lady Everblades and lives in Fort Myers, FL. Laura has been a member of the FWHL for 14 years. Laura is originally from Buffalo, NY. Laura is the Sales Development Manager for the largest global IT distributor, TD SYNNEX. Laura is married to her husband, Terry, and has a very active mini golden doodle named Kona.
Kyla Jones currently serves as FWHL Tournament Director and is a member of the Florida Thunder. Kyla has been a member of the FWHL for 2 years. In her free time, Kyla enjoys playing hockey, spending time with family, and her dog Shadow.
Lisa Maybury currently plays for the Honey Badgers and has been a member of the FWHL for 15 years. Lisa served as a US Navy Nurse Corps for 8 years and a USA Hockey Level 4 Official for 13 years! Lisa and husband Ed have just celebrated their 30th Anniversary, and she has 3 children, Edward 29, Shay 27, Christopher 20. The entire family plays hockey. Lisa enjoys RVing with family and hiking the White Mountains of NH. Lisa is a die hard Bruins fan!
Jenn Weaver currently plays for the MsConduct and is originally from Canada. Jenn was a Division I rower at Stetson University. Off the ice, her other loves are family (2 amazing kiddos) and her work – she has been in veterinarian medicine for over 2 decades and currently runs a small animal veterinary hospital.
Maria Law is originally from Chile, but currently resides in Miami, FL. Maria is a member of the Lucky Pucks. Maria works in Finance & HR. Maria is a 2025 honoree of the Hispanic Excellence Series, and she has played an instrumental role in developing the Chilean Women’s Hockey Team Amerigol LATAM Cup. Maria has also been instrumental in promoting Florida women's hockey nationally and internationally. Maria is married and has two young children.
Dominique Lind is a member of the Lucky Pucks. Dominique is originally from Iowa, but currently calls Fort Lauderdale, FL home. Dominique started playing boys hockey at 5 years old. Dominique attended Shattuck St. Mary's in Faribault, MN from 2001-2004, continuing on to play recreational hockey at Iowa State University. Dominique hopes to share her appreciation of the organization and the game, being a positive influence for the future of Girl's & Women's Hockey in South Florida.

The Florida Women’s Hockey League (FWHL) was founded in 2002. We are a non-profit organization for adult women who love ice hockey and whose mission is to promote the sport in the state of Florida. The FWHL currently has eleven teams, with Florida teams coming from the northern part of the state such as Pensacola and Jacksonville to as far south as Miami.
